Arbitration - International & Domestic
A&L Goodbody has considerable expertise in both domestic and international arbitration law and is widely acknowledged as a leader in this field. Our team has experience of arbitrations conducted under all major institutional rules.
Our lawyers have represented and represent clients in arbitrations conducted under the offices of the International Chamber of Commerce in Paris, the London Court of International Arbitration and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
With the introduction of the Arbitration Act 2010, which entered into force on 8 June 2010, Ireland is now in the first division of countries which have adopted a recognisable and internationally accepted code of international arbitration law. The 2010 Act applies the UNCITRAL Model Law on International Commercial Arbitration to all arbitrations which take place within the State and consolidates Irish arbitration legislation into one act.
The 2010 Act brings with it significant changes to arbitrations conducted in Ireland and there is a huge amount of scope for individuals and businesses who are parties to international contracts to vary the terms of the arbitration clauses in their contracts to best suit their individual needs.
