Commercial Contracts Solicitor (In House) - Risk & Compliance

This role represents an exciting opportunity to be involved in helping to implement the firm's strategy through its key commercial contracts with a view to protecting the firm and ensuring that our arrangements with our suppliers are aligned with our internal requirements, policies and values and with our client commitments.

The individual will work closely with colleagues across the firm, including business management, information security and IT team leaders. The individual will be part of the Risk & Compliance team which supports the firm in ensuring that all aspects of the firm's practice meet the highest professional standards in key areas, including cyber and information security, regulatory and professional compliance, GDPR, AML and anti-bribery & corruption compliance and ESG standards.

Responsibilities

  • Helping to formulate and implement procurement policies, procedures and safeguards (including related polices such as ABC, ESG, GDPR)
  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a broad range of commercial contracts (including renewals) from a risk and compliance perspective
  • Strategic, risk based, application of contract principles, laws and regulations to specific commercial requirements
  • Securing relevant contract approvals and consents and monitoring implementation and contract compliance
  • Central management of organisation's contract database for audit and supplier management purposes
  • Strong collaborative relationship with other team members and business leaders throughout the organisation
  • Broader ongoing support to the Risk & Compliance team in terms of provision of general related advice to the organisation on regulatory, compliance, corporate governance and data protection issues and alignment with our contractual and professional commitments to clients

Skills and Experience

  • A qualified lawyer with at least 5 years' experience/training with commercial law firm or in-house department
  • Particular knowledge of IT/IP and GDPR related issues desirable
  • Constructive, professional manner
  • Pro-active communication skills both oral and written
  • Good organisational and prioritising skills
  • Sound commercial acumen and general business knowledge
