Knowledge Lawyer - Disputes and Investigations

The successful applicant will work closely with the group's partners, the Knowledge partner and the Knowledge team to maintain and update the group's current awareness and know-how resources, develop relevant training programmes for fee-earners and assist with the group's client knowledge function.

The success of our Disputes and Investigations Group is driven by the practical application of up-to-date technical legal knowledge. Your role will be crucial in maintaining that success. You will be given the freedom and flexibility to innovate and strategically develop the group's knowledge function in an open and supportive environment. Ideally, you will have an interest in the use of technology to improve the group's knowledge offering. You will have the benefit of working alongside a large group of knowledge lawyers and the broader Knowledge team.

Key duties and responsibilities

  • Keeping fee earners in the Disputes & Investigations (DIG) group and other litigation practice groups, up to date on legal and regulatory developments, including pipeline developments.
  • Capturing and disseminating relevant legal knowledge to ensure that the collective expertise and knowledge of the group is understood and shared.
  • Assisting DIG fee earners (and clients where appropriate) in respect of technical and/or practical legal issues raised by clients, and to assist in the development of position papers, toolkits and other legal know how.
  • Taking responsibility for the development and production of new precedents (to a standard that is partner sign-off level) and the maintenance generally of DIG precedents.
  • Playing a significant role in aligning DIG knowledge with other departments as appropriate. 
  • Developing appropriate knowledge tools for the DIG group that are aligned with and informed by the business needs of the group and its client base.
  • Developing and promoting the expertise of the practice in the market, including presenting to, and engaging directly with clients and at industry events as appropriate.  
  • Participating in knowledge management initiatives and projects, as appropriate and helping the knowledge partner and other knowledge lawyers regarding specific Know How or Knowledge Management initiatives.
  • Working and collaborating with the Knowledge Partner and Knowledge Lawyers and broader Knowledge team to ensure that we are getting sufficient leverage from the experience and learnings across the Knowledge team.
  • Significant input and participation in internal and external training initiatives.
  • Playing a proactive role in bringing knowledge BD ideas to the DIG partner group and knowledge partner and to collaborate with relevant partners in implementing these ideas.  

Requirements

The successful candidate will be ideally an experienced Lawyer with;

  • Strong technical, legal and analytical skills.
  • Proficient drafting skills.
  • Excellent communication skills in the context of both formal 'podium' and training presentations and the ability to sell ideas and initiatives to people.
  • Strong collaboration and teamwork skills.
  • A keen interest in knowledge and continuous development.
