COVID-19 guidance for employers in Northern Ireland: Furlough, flexibility and the future
Following the Northern Ireland assembly announcement on 20 August 2020, it has been confirmed that tightened restrictions are due to come into effect in Northern Ireland from early next week. A summary of the updated restrictions are outlined below:
- Indoor gatherings will be limited to six people (from two different households) instead of 10 people (from two different households)
- Outdoor gatherings will be limited to 15 people instead of 30
- There will be an increased focus on police enforcement in areas with a high number of cases
This governmental update may have an impact on employers in Northern Ireland's approach in the coming weeks therefore, in the latest edition to our series we have sought to clarify the current approach many employers are taking in relation to mitigating the risk of COVID-19 transmission in the workplace, along with providing a recap on current furlough arrangements.
If you have any questions in relation to the matter raised, or if there are any other issues relating to the impact of COVID-19 which you would like to see dealt with in future editions, please contact any member of the Employment Belfast team.
