New Member of Ireland Competition and Consumer Protection Commission Appointed
It was announced on 27 July 2016 that Ireland's Competition and Consumer Protection Commission ("CCPC") has a new member.
Mr Fergal O’Leary has been appointed to the CCPC by the Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Mary Mitchell O'Connor TD.
Mr O’Leary has been appointed for a term of five years. He will oversee the CCPC's Consumer Enforcement Division and the Communications and Market Insights Division. He has held a number of management roles relating to consumer research, policy analysis, financial education and communications in the National Consumer Agency (NCA) (which formed part of the CCPC along with the old Competition Authority), which he joined in 2008 following six years in the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland’s Energy Policy Statistical Support Unit. Since October 2014, Mr O’Leary was the CCPC's Director of Communications and Market Insights. He holds a Master’s Degree in Economics from University College Cork and a Post Graduate Diploma in EU Competition Law from King’s College in London.
