A&L Goodbody becomes a limited liability partnership
A&L Goodbody has been authorised by the Legal Services Regulatory Authority to become a limited liability partnership (LLP). Accordingly, the firm will become A&L Goodbody LLP with effect from 14 April 2021.
The change will not affect our relationship or impact on the delivery of services to our clients. Furthermore, we continue to maintain appropriate levels of professional indemnity insurance for our protection and for the benefit of our clients.
LLPs are a common business model for law firms internationally and in Ireland. The Legal Services Regulation Act, 2015 (the Act), provides for the operation of limited liability partnerships in Ireland, amending the Partnership Act 1890 which continues to apply to A&L Goodbody LLP to the extent that it is not inconsistent with the Act. As set out in Section 123 of the Act individual partners are generally not personally liable for debts, liabilities or obligations incurred carrying on the business of an LLP, subject to certain exceptions. However, rights of recourse or enforcement against the property of A&L Goodbody LLP of any debt, liability or obligation will be unaffected.
If you require further information on these changes please speak with your usual A&L Goodbody contact.
