A&L Goodbody partners with P-TECH to support students from disadvantaged schools

A&L Goodbody LLP (ALG) has entered into partnership with P-TECH, a global education model that helps prepare second-level students for ongoing education and career opportunities.

The partnership with P-TECH is part of ALG’s social mobility strategy which aims to improve pathways for people in Dublin’s inner city who face barriers to accessing further education and employment.

ALG’s involvement will be to support students in P-TECH’s designated schools through mentoring and work experience. The aim is to help develop the skills needed for pursing further education and competitive careers.

Sinead Smith, Head of Responsible Business at ALG, said: “As a large employer in the north-east inner city we have a responsibility to help young people in our local community improve their employment prospects through education and work experience. Our partnership with P-TECH allows us to use our expertise and experience to benefit second-level students at a critical time in their education. We’re really excited about this partnership and what we can do together for young people in our local community.”

What is P-TECH

P-TECH is a global education model that offers students the opportunity to develop the skills and competencies required to enter the workforce or continue further education. P-TECH was introduced in Ireland in 2018 and since then has grown to include five post primary DEIS (Delivering Equality of Opportunity in Schools) schools located in the north-east inner city. It is a multi-year model starting in first year post primary all the way through to sixth year. You can find out more about P-TECH in Ireland here.
