ALG wins two China Business Law Journal awards
A&L Goodbody (ALG) has won two China Business Law Journal awards for its complex and high profile work throughout 2018. The firm was named 'Banking & Finance Firm of the Year' while the Corporate and M&A team advised on the 'Deal of the Year 2018’ having advised on the establishment of WuXi Biologics in Ireland.
Being recognised as Banking & Finance Firm of the Year is based on our Aviation & Transport Finance groups unrivalled specialist aircraft aviation and transportation finance legal expertise in Ireland. It is also based on our recent firm developments such as: our continued and growing international focus; the depth and breadth of our teams in the market and our notable market share. As well as the many cross departmental, complex deals which we worked on throughout 2018.
ALG's Corporate and M&A team were thrilled to win 'Deal of the Year' having acted as Irish counsel to WuXI Biologics on their significant FDI project which has created Ireland's largest bio manufacturing facility using single-use bioreactors. Supported by the Irish Government through IDA Ireland, this is Wuxi's first site outside of China. The deal will see WuXi Biologics invest €325m and create 400 new jobs over five years.
The China Business Law Journal awards recognise 'outstanding china-related deals and cases in 2018, applauding remarkable legal efforts'.
Ronan Lyons, Corporate and M&A partner commented: "We are delighted with this recognition. Our role on this deal reaffirms our position as a leading advisor, providing a full range of services to Asian companies expanding into Ireland. Chinese companies, like WuXi, can rely on our knowledge and experience to ensure their Irish investment projects are a success."
