A&L Goodbody wins Volunteering Award at the Sustainable Business Impact Awards 2023
A&L Goodbody has won the Volunteering Award at this year’s Chambers Ireland Sustainable Business Impact Awards for 2023, alongside seven other law firms.
The awards are Ireland's most prestigious sustainable business awards, and this year there were 77 projects shortlisted across fourteen award categories.
We were also delighted to be shortlisted in the Partnership with Charity and Diversity & Inclusion categories and we extend a big congratulations to the winners in those categories.
- Volunteering for the firm’s work with the Red Cross, to deliver legal outreach clinics and frontline support to 840 Ukrainians displaced by war and receiving refuge on Maynooth University campus. With the involvement of six other law firms (Matheson LLP, Arthur Cox LLP, William Fry LLP, Walkers (Ireland) LLP, Philip Lee LLP, Dechert LLP and Comyn Kelleher Tobin LLP) a team of 124 volunteer lawyers, law firm professionals and interpreters provided a range of assistance.
- Partnership with Charity for A&L Goodbody’s decade-long partnership with Depaul, continuously supporting the organisation with strategic advice, volunteering and fundraising to help them deliver on their mission to help anyone facing homelessness rebuild their lives and progress to a positive future.
- Diversity & Inclusion for putting inclusion at the heart of A&L Goodbody’s business through a robust Diversity & Inclusion Group and framework which is helping to drive change and implement A&L Goodbody’s comprehensive D&I strategy across five main focus areas; gender, disability, sexual orientation, social mobility and cultural diversity.
David Widger, Managing Partner of A&L Goodbody commented on the awards: "This award as well as those we were shortlisted for, are a testament to all the hard work that goes in behind the scenes across our fantastic teams. Our responsible business strategy is at the heart of everything that we do as an organisation, and we are especially proud of the pro bono work that we do and the partnerships we have. To see the difference it makes to charities and organisations such as Depaul and the Red Cross is truly empowering, and we will look to build on this work in the years ahead.”
