Katie O’Connor appointed new Head of ALG Solutions
A&L Goodbody LLP has appointed partner, Katie O’Connor, as the new Head of ALG Solutions, our unique legal solutions offering to clients. Katie succeeds Charlie Carroll who has led ALGS for the last four years, having led our Client Tech Group for three years prior to that.
ALGS is Ireland’s largest ‘captive’ alternative legal services provider employing over 50 lawyers, project managers, business analysts and technologists. It provides smart legal resourcing, process optimisation, advanced use of technology and project management services to clients. ALGS’s particular strength is providing support to our practice areas on large or complex legal mandates and projects – such as data-heavy transactions, investigations and disputes. ALGS has been recognised as a market leading practice by a number of industry publications and was the first Irish law firm to onboard Harvey AI, the world’s leading genAI legal tool.
Charlie will continue as a senior partner in our Corporate Transactions practice. Katie will remain as a senior partner in our Disputes & Investigations Group as well as carrying out her role as Head of ALGS, providing strategic leadership to the group’s delivery of smart, innovative and cost-effective solutions aligned to clients’ needs. Katie will work closely with the ALGS senior management team, focused on developing the firm’s market leading service delivery capabilities, of Gillian McDonald, Partner and Head of Transactions (Legal), Joe O’Sullivan, Director of Technology, David Lucas, Head of Transactions (Delivery) and Kevin O’Neill, Head of Programme Management.
On her appointment, Katie said: “Having worked closely with ALG Solutions for a number of years on contentious and regulatory matters, I’m proud to be heading up this great team. Through this multidisciplinary group of technologists, project managers and lawyers, we do truly innovative work for some of our biggest clients – ALGS is a real differentiator for us in the market. I’m really looking forward to working with Gillian, Joe, David and Kevin to explore how we can continue to enhance the support we provide to our practice groups within ALG and our clients in delivering smart solutions on large and complex mandates. I would especially like to thank Charlie for his fantastic leadership in building ALGS into the market leading service provider it is today and leveraging the talent within the group and our collaborative culture as a firm to consistently deliver for our clients.”
Charlie said: “It’s been a privilege to work alongside our really talented and committed people in ALGS over the years, as we’ve built a market leading practice, recognised for its cutting-edge thinking, solutions orientated outlook and best in class offering to clients. We’ve worked on some of the most complex transactions, projects and disputes in the market in recent years which, without our people, innovative use of processes and our technology capabilities, could not have been delivered for our clients. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the journey. Katie is a natural successor and I’m sure she will continue to lead ALGS to even greater success. I wish her all the best.”
