Virtual Hearings - a new normal?
A milestone has been reached in the Irish Courts. Our Litigation and Dispute Resolution team, led by Kenan Furlong were involved in one of Ireland's first virtual and paperless hearings in the Irish Courts as a result of the COVID-19 crisis. All those involved in the hearing were kept safe by dialing in from separate locations.
The hearing was conducted using our eBrief technology. This enabled us to develop electronic briefs efficiently which were then used by our legal team, the judges and the other party during the appeal. This saved the printing of over 18,000 pages – the equivalent of a whole tree!
The feedback received from all parties involved leads us to believe that virtual hearings can be utilised successfully. We are hopeful that our successful use of eBriefs will help virtual hearings become commonplace even after COVID-19.
