Right to work checks and key changes
The 1 July 2021 marked the end of the six month post-Brexit ‘grace period’. During this period eligible European Economic Area (EEA) citizens and their family members who were resident in the UK by 31 December 2020 needed to apply to the EU Settlement Scheme to preserve their right to live and work in the UK. It is crucial that employers understand the impact that the end of the grace period has on right to work checks and carry these out correctly.
