What’s New? - Increase in Minimum Wage
The increase in the national minimum wage to €9.15 per hour came into effect on 1 January last. The increase is expected to benefit approximately 140,000 workers nationwide. The increase came about on foot of the first report of the Low Pay Commission which was set up to examine the rates of the minimum wage on an annual basis.
What about employers?
To help ease the burden on minimum wage employers, employer PRSI thresholds have also been adjusted from 1 January last. (The entry point to the top rate of 10.75% has been increased by €20 per week to €376 per week).
