Playing our part in tackling climate change is a cornerstone of ALG’s responsible business strategy. As a signatory of Business in the Community’s Low Carbon Pledge, we have committed to reducing our carbon footprint by 50% by 2030, in alignment with a 1.5C trajectory. Our science-based emissions reduction targets, approved by the Science Based Targets initiative, use 2019 as a baseline year and commit us to:

Reducing our overall carbon footprint 50% by 2030

Reducing scope 1 and 2 emissions 66% by 2030

Reducing scope 3 emissions 46% by 2030

Using 100% renewable energy for our Dublin, Belfast and London offices by 2030

Our commitment to climate action

Our long term goal is to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. In the meantime we intend to meet our near term targets by:

  • reducing the energy we use and the waste we produce
  • reducing our business travel
  • promoting and supporting more sustainable commuting
  • decarbonising our supply chain by working with our suppliers

Our new HQ building in Dublin, ready in 2025, will be Ireland’s first net-zero carbon office building development - a low-energy building using 100% renewable energy.

To keep us accountable and on track, we will be publishing annual emissions reports from 2025.

Our environmental management systems
Our environmental management systems

We recognise that high standards of environmental management are required to support our business management objectives and clients’ needs.

Our policies are supported by, and form part of our environmental and energy management systems, which are certified to ISO14001 and ISO50001 respectively. We achieved certification of both these management systems in 2016 and have been reaccredited for both management systems since.
